A humanizing book Review by Ruben de Rus
There is a very important human element that our society is lacking today: forgiveness. The Forgiveness Project is a book that deepens into such an important subject and practice by sharing forty testimonies of people who have experienced traumatic and painful experiences.

The book contains forty short biographies that narrate how crime victims, or their relatives, struggled with the process of forgiving perpetrators of crimes. A common element that can be found in many of the testimonies is that we must forgive ourselves in order to be able to forgive others. Testimonies are focused on the inside out process as forgiveness is presented as a decision that we must to make in order to forgive the unforgivable. The testimonies also reflect the then and now; how interviewees felt, thought, and behave before they decide to forgive. The book transmits the idea that we are still humans.

Though the book does not claim to be a Christian book it can be very helpful for any Christian. I first thought this book has nothing to do with ministry, but I changed my mind once I read it. Why? I found each one of these stories can be used as illustrations of real examples of forgiveness. They can serve as a word of encouragement to us and others in those moments when we need to choose to forgive as God has forgiven us. It can be said that the testimonies are a vivid example of what the Bible says about forgiveness.

This book is highly recommendable to any individual struggling or not with forgiveness, as we are confronted every day with forgiveness. It is worth of the money.
