Fred Stone was Emeritus Professor of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at the University of Glasgow. He practised for many years as a child and adolescent psychiatrist and was a member of the Kilbrandon Committee, whose report led to wide-ranging changes in the Scottish law and services dealing with young people who offend and child protection. He also chaired the Glasgow Children's Panel Advisory Committee and lectured and wrote on child development and psychiatry.
