James Gilligan M.D. directed the Centre for the Study of Violence at Harvard Medical School. He is former director of the Bridgewater State Hospital for the criminally insane and was director of mental health for the Massachusetts prison system. He is a lecturer at the Department of Psychiatry, Harvard Medical School and President of the International Association for Forensic Psychotherapy.
